A situation has arisen where an ex member of the Regiment passed away who had recently been divorced from his first wife and remarried without too many people knowing about it. The Web Site Team were instructed by the original poster that the name of the deceased current wife`s should be brought up to date because some of the messages contained the name of his now ex wife due to his divorce and remarriage not being known by those who were not in close contact with him.

There being no other information available or other contact made this was acted upon in good faith.

The reasons this was done being that we had received no other instructions at the time and in law his current wife must be considered first. I must stress that no entries were deleted and that the only changes made were to the ex wifes name. It should also be noted that we were acting only on the information we received and had we have been contacted by the ex wife at the time her status would have been considered before any changes were made.

Please note that we cannot be held responsible for the family status of a deceased member of the Regimental Association and that any entries made here are as a result of information received.

We regret any distress caused to all concerned parties and whilst we understand that at a very difficult time it may be the last thing to be considered it must be clearly understood that unless we are contacted by all parties and made aware of a particular situation common sense dictates that we cannot be held responsible for postings made as a result of the received information.

Possibly not the correct time for a reply, but could the answer be that we all send an email with what is wanted to be published, that way at least we have something to protect you guys?  Families probably do not have this particular aspect at the top of the agenda at this kind of time - maybe my idea is the nearest best thing.  I do not beleive any of us want to cause any distress to anyone via our website, especially at times like bereavment, but with the best will in the world, people do make mistakes.
